That would be your air pressure warning light. It means that there is a low amount of air in you pnuematics (I think that's spelled right) system. If you have air brakes simulation turned on, you will get an alarm when that light is on and your truck won't be able to move. That would be your air pressure warning light. BCS Jul 23, 2014 @ 2:57am. A retarder is a brake on trucks are used to slow down the truck, for example, when going downhill. It is an engine brake, if you down a hill should use regular brakes on a truck would burn your brakes in no time. Hope this help you to understand what it does. #1.
The retarder is a part of certain transmission configurations. It's job is to slow down the truck without using or in addition to the service brakes. Kinda sorta like Jake brakes, but in the transmission instead. I've never seen that message before, but I use the automatic setting.

It is accurate. High-pressure air is let into the brake chamber when you depress the brake pedal. The pressure causes the brake mechanism to activate and slow the truck down. If you let the air straight out of the brake chambers before you were done braking you possibly wouldn't even have enough pressure for one complete stop.

Euro Truck Simulator 2. Retarder caused skid! I was going about 110km/h on the highway to Poznan, and a toll was up ahead, so I put full retarder, and something that has never before happened, happened. It seems that my wheels seemed to have locked up or something, I went into a skid and hit into a roadworks barricade.
Most trucks today have automatic gear and a retarder with 5-6 settings where one of them is automatic.. As a simple rule you use engine brake nearly for all kind off slow down, shifting over to foot brake right before you stop.. The retarder you set in auto and it help slowing down when applying the foot brake.., so you'r main brakes don't heat
Originally posted by scugnizzo89: Each truck has 2 braking modes, one is the classic air brake (the one you naturally use with the down arrow key), the other is the retarder. Since using air brake reduces the amount of air (once is finished, you have to stop the truck, put the neutral and accelerate in order to refill it), the retarder lets you

Re: Retarder related problem. First try deactivating automatic retarder (if you haven't already) and see if that resolves the issue. If it does, it may be a brake pedal issue. If you're using pedals, ensure there is a small dead zone for each pedal (this ensures there is an "off" zone). Finally, try unassigning and reassigning your retarder keys.
when enabled, the automatic engine brake and retarder are both activated in addition to the air brakes when you hit the brake key. this is separate from using those features manually with their specific keybindings. It allows a faster stop than simply air brakes without having to both hit the brake key and the keys for the engine brake and
